February
to
March

At the desk of February 2026,

Festive reds still glow softly by the window.

Ink settles with echoes of laughter,

As the last page of the old year is turned,

Leaving behind the first breath of the new spring.

On the pages of March 2026,

Warm winds awaken color and form.

Lines move without hesitation, hues begin to wander,

And the wishes quietly made during the New Year

Start, at last, to take shape.

Event Highlights|Honored to Serve as Award Presenters

Representatives of the Hong Kong International Youth Artists Society were honored to be invited as award presenters at the 6th Asian Youth & Children Art Festival – Outstanding Works Exhibition and Award Ceremony. The event showcased a wide range of inspiring artworks by young creators from different regions, reflecting their observations of the world, daily life, and nature. Through the award presentation and on-site exchanges, we witnessed the power of art in education and its role in connecting cultures, emotions, and creativity. It was a meaningful opportunity to support the growth of young artists and to engage in dialogue through art. The Society will continue to support art education and cross-cultural exchange, working with various partners to create more spaces for artistic expression and development.

Exhibition Ongoing|Chantelle Huang Solo Exhibition

The solo exhibition of Chantelle Huang is now open. Presented through abstract compositions, layered colors, and subtle brushwork, the works invite viewers into a slower rhythm of perception—one that encourages quiet observation and inner focus.

As a female artist, Huang’s practice is deeply rooted in emotional awareness and lived experience. Rather than depicting concrete imagery, her paintings retain warmth and openness within abstraction, allowing space for individual reflection and resonance.

The exhibition is presented in an intimate setting, offering a close and contemplative viewing experience. Visitors are warmly invited to make an appointment and encounter the works at their own pace.

The Global Art Market Enters a “Rebalancing Era”

According to the latest Art Basel & UBS Global Art Market Report, the art market is shifting away from a structure dominated by top-tier, high-value transactions toward a more diversified and layered ecosystem. While the high-end segment shows signs of caution, mid-priced works and a new generation of collectors remain actively engaged. Increased visibility for women artists and cross-cultural practices, alongside a recalibration of Asia’s—particularly Hong Kong’s—role in the global art landscape, signals a period of structural change that may open up new possibilities for artists, collectors, and institutions alike.

An Outstanding Representative in the Field of Korean Art: Jin-me Yoon

In the diverse world of art, Jin-me Yoon, a female artist from South Korea currently residing in Vancouver, has demonstrated a unique and profound artistic influence.

The first time I encountered Jin-me Yoon's work was in Canada, and it was quite by chance. At that moment, I was immediately captivated. Her works possess a unique quality that allows them to blend seamlessly with nature, creating a truly enchanting experience. This sensation was so intriguing that it sparked my curiosity, prompting me to explore her artistic creations further.

Jin-me Yoon was born in South Korea, and since the early 1990s, she has utilized various forms of artistic expression, including photography, video, and performance. She is dedicated to exploring the complex relationships between tourism, militarism, and colonialism. Through experimental film photography, as well as the performative gestures of family members, friends, and community members, she reconnects the repressed past with the damaged present. Her work tightly links the immigrant experience to the evolving historical, political, and ecological conditions, creating favorable conditions for different futures. She works in environments filled with danger, seeking specific reference points in multiple geopolitical contexts. This undoubtedly demonstrates her determination and ability to deeply explore and expand the possibilities of art.

Over the past 30 years, Jin-me Yoon's works have been exhibited in hundreds of international exhibitions. The frequency and high quality of these exhibitions are a testament to the significant recognition her work has received in the global art community. During her time as a faculty member at the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University, she mentored numerous students, contributing to the cultivation of emerging artistic talent. In 2018, she was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and in 2022, she was awarded the prestigious TD Canadian Photography Award. These honors are a strong affirmation of her artistic achievements.

Jin-me Yoon continues to advance along her artistic journey with her unique perspective and creative approach. She consistently contributes deep, meaningful works to the art world, and her contributions are certainly worth our ongoing attention and appreciation.

To Wun is a versatile contemporary artist who is self-taught in painting, sculpture, and the traditional crafts of sugar art and bamboo scaffolding. His vibrant, multi-dimensional paintings have earned him three awards from the Philippe Charriol Foundation and exhibitions at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, MoMA PS1, and the British Museum. Reviving the lost art of sugar sculpture, he developed a healthy, accessible formula. He also innovated bamboo craft techniques, integrating them into theatre, installations, and film. His work bridges traditional heritage and contemporary expression, creating a unique and original artistic language.
