Yukio Chidori

Music Advisor

Yukio Chidori is a world famous performer of the Japanese music instrument shakuhachi.  He started learning shakuhachi in 1997. Since 2007, he has been studying shakuhachi under renowned master Teruhisa Fukuda, the founder of the Hijiri School / Sainte-École.He has subsequently performed in various performances organized by The Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong. He has also given many performances at universities and concert halls in Hong Kong and Japan in an effort to promote traditional Japanese music. 

Yukio Chidori not only plays traditional Japanese music but also shows great interest in jazz and popular music. In 2018, he completed a recording session for a song by Cantopop singer Pakho Chau. In the same year, he performed as a soloist with top Cantopop singer Hins Cheung at HK Coliseum. In 2019,

 

As a music advisor to HKIYAS, he hopes to use his experience and knowledge in international music to educate and nurture young students.
